Squatter clearance and the relocation of squatters in public housing has been one of the principal social programmes in the shaping of post-war Hong Kong. Using Diamond Hill as a case study, the author aims to fill the gaps in existing literature on the subject of squatter clearance, and to present it as a social process with serious implications for the nature of urban development, as well as for the squatters who are affected.
