Human Resource Management: Gaining a Competitive Advantage has been developed to teach students how to face and meet a variety of challenges within their organizations and how to gain a competitive advantage for their companies. This new Global Edition has been developed specifically to meet the needs of international students of HRM. The new global edition:

.Draws from the diverse research, teaching, and consulting experiences of the four authors who have taught human resource management to undergraduates, MBA students, and experienced managers and professional employees. New contributions from international academics in the Middle East, South Africa and Europe add greater international depth and breadth to the coverage, providing international students with relevant and engaging global examples.

.Discusses current issues such as social networking, talent management, diversity, and employee engagement, all of which have a major impact on business and HRM practice.

.Chapter opening cases - introduces the student to HRM’s role in the current economic reality. The opening cases provide international perspectives on issues such as downsizing, business strategy, recruitment, incentivising staff and other real business problems that provide background for the material discussed in the chapter. At the end of each chapter a feature called ”A Look Back”, provides questions that challenge students to address the human resource issues discussed in the chapter’s opening case. The global edition features cases from global companies including organisations based in Europe, Asia, South Africa, the Middle East and the US.

.Real-World Examples: A signature feature of this book are the vivid, real-world, examples in every chapter. The popular boxes ”Competing Through Sustainability” ”Competing through Globalization” and ”Competing through Technology” have been updated with new examples from global organizations.

.Twitter Focus creates an excellent opportunity for students to use social media to discuss chapter topics and apply them to the chapter cases that can be found on the text’s website.

.Managing People Case - These entertaining and informative cases help students to experience HR incidents in real companies that encourage students to critically evaluate each problem and apply the chapter contents. New cases are drawn from global contexts and well known companies in Europe, Asia, South Africa, the Middle East and the US.

.End of Chapter Cases Online Four additional cases relate to topics in six of the chapters of the book. The cases focus on specific topics such as workplace bullying, sexual harassment, and performance evaluation.
