　　領導者必須打造能提供對話的氛圍。你需要知道該往何處去，以及能夠達成的務實目標為何；同時，你也應該設法建立一個讓人願意與你同甘共苦的環境。



　　你需要成立一套架構，用以鼓勵眾人表達內心的想法、勇於指正你的錯誤，並且樂於和你共同努力，找出可行之道。你需要隨時聆聽他人在乎的事，包括已明說的和未能啟齒的。有太多領導者總是偏聽他人的曲意奉承，全然忘了「國王的新衣」所蘊含的教訓。你也需要清楚判斷何時應奮力一搏，而哪些問題卻應該袖手旁觀，順其自然。這其中的訣竅在於確定你所追求的目標是什麼，然後清晰溝通你做此決策的理由。



　　身為領導者，你經常耐心等候時機到來。然而，在其他場合你則深知必須出手介入，才能引導、塑造或推動前進的道路。很多時候決定權與資源都掌握在他人手中，但是你必須在適當的情況下發揮你的想法和影響力。當時機對了，你早已準備好提出建言或者說出你的顧慮。
