This book investigates the psychological changes that take place after Christian conversion in chronic heroin-addicted individuals attending a religious programme. Drawing on the data collected in the programme, the author throws light upon questions regarding drug addiction and rehabilitation, religion and healing, and religious conversion in a Christian context.
This is a practical book written in a concise yet scholarly fashion, and it is suitable for religious organization, social welfare/services policy maker, front-line helping professionals, and social work/psychology students in general.

書評
“…Ng"s scholarship is thorough, so much so that her opening review chapters on the psychology of addictionand religion are in themselves worth the price of the book. But the heart and soul of the volume—the careful and systematic elucidation of the treatment experience and the reorganization of self and world it promotes for these young men—is its unique contribution…. Dr. Ng clearly has advanced our understanding of a major social ill, as well as a promising spiritual process for promoting healing.”
—Robert A. Neimeyer, Ph.D. Editor of the Journal of Constructivist Psychology
