This is a book for children. It is a book about world history that does not neglect Chinese history, and it is a book about Chinese history that does not neglect world history.

Among the many things you will learn from reading this book are:

-The history of the Earth and the dinosaurs.

-Why human civilisation arose in Europe and Asia.

-The spectacular wars that the Greeks fought.

-The stories of the Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty.

-Why China enjoyed prosperity during the Tang and Song Dynasties while Europe entered the Dark Ages.

-When the world’s three major faiths came into being.

-The story of Yue Fei’s battles against the Jurchens.

-How China fell into decline while the Renaissance took place in Europe.

-That Tang Bohu lived during the same time as Leonardo da Vinci.

-What the Kangxi Emperor was doing when Isaac Newton discovered gravity.

-What the Qianlong Emperor was doing when George Washington established a democratic America.

-The 25 most influential historical figures in the past 500 years.

-That we can learn about the history of the world in just three hours through leisurely reading.

-That we can understand the last 100 years of Chinese history in just one minute.

-That we can have different emotional reactions to different historical events.

About the Authors:

Alexander Cheung Tai-chong , after winning a novel competition while he was at junior high school, Cheung decided to pursue a career in writing. He has worked for the likes of Mad Dog Daily, the supplement section of Ming Pao and Book B of Ming Pao Weekly. In addition, Cheung has also been a contributor to several columns published in Sing Tao Daily. His work has taken him to places such as Malawi, Ghana, the slums of South Africa, a film studio in Mumbai and a drug rehabilitation facility in the Maldives. He likes viewing matters with a macro-historical perspective and is fond of examining the bizarre similarities between things that seem totally unrelated.

“The History of the World in One Sitting” marks the author’s second work, after “Tommy Li: The Consumer Jungle x Brand Regeneration”.

About the Illustrator:

Wu Jiun-kuang, Wu is a freelance illustrator whose work can be found in newspapers, novel covers and theatre posters.
