　　本書收錄的詩以情詩為主，但由於愛情有酸甜苦辣及悲歡離合，故也收錄一些比較有悲情(pathos)成份的作品，如此才符合現實的狀況。由於篇幅限制，無法把每首選出來的詩完整地以雙語方式呈現，僅能介紹其中經典的詩句。



　　本書每個單元都有一篇英文寫作範例，這是筆者的原創作品，希望能對讀者有所幫助。至於每個單元的重點句型，都是與詩中詩句及用字有關，這並不容易，因為詩的主要構成是音律節奏及意象，不是那麼著重文法上的變法，有時甚至不太符合我們所熟悉的文法規則，讀英詩時不得不注意到這一點。
