The Pearl River Delta region has developed very rapidly since 1978. One year of development in this region was equivalent to at least two to three years of growth in other parts of the world. The interactions between Hong Kong and its counterparts in the Pearl River Delta have also increased tremendously since then, especially in the past decade.
In this volume, government officials, businessmen, NGOs, and academics from Hong Kong, the Pearl River Delta, and other parts of the world exploresalient issues pertaining to major aspects of various modes of cooperation, coordination and planning in building a competitive Pearl River Delta Region as well as recommend broad directions for strengthening regional cooperation, coordination and planning to meet future economic, social and environmental challenges.
