This book is the first real attempt to bring together contributions from leading authors on the subject of partnerships for sustainable development with a perspective specifically from the Asia-Pacific region. The papers in this book are divided into three main streams. The first examines partnerships in a conceptual way and stresses the need to think about issues such as capacity development, strategic management and the business case for cooperation. The second section examines partnerships in practice and provides clear illustrations of both progress and barriers to moving towards a more sustainable development model. The final section tackles the important topic of innovation and argues that encouraging innovation is critical to developing the tools and techniques that can reverse environmental damage and build a more sustainable future.
