現為英國杜倫大學 (University of Durham) 政府及國際事務學院中國國際關係學講師 。他為國際著名學術期? East Asia: An International Quarterly 主編 、Journal of International Business Studies 編輯評審委員及德國杜賓根大學歐洲當代台灣研究中心顧問委員 。他曾歷任中國人民大學訪問教授 、 星加坡大學東亞研究所訪問研究員、 英國牛津大學聖安東尼學院 Senior Associate Member和英國國家學術院暨台灣中央研究院訪問學者。
張博士曾出版英文專書 Market Liberalism: American Foreign Policy toward China (1998) 、 Political Economy of Japan (2000) 及 China Factors: Political Perspectives and Economic Interactions (2007) 三本。英文學術文章近二十篇分別發表於國際期? Political Studies 、 Sustainable Development 、 The Journal of World Investment and Trade 、 The Journal of World Intellectual Property 、Journal of Contemporary Asia 、 Journal of Contemporary China 、 Issues & Studies 及 China: An International Journal 等 。
