Promoting gender equality requires that we understand gender as a social construct cutting across the multifaceted political, economic and societal spheres.
The chapters in this book demonstrate the importance of gender mainstreaming in examining social issues and making decisions that affect women and men. They showcase the divergence of academic disciplines which converge to examine the underlying structure of gender equity. They also present a range of scientific methodologies and technical tools for gender analyses.
